At ManhattanLife, we have a well-practiced process for developing new products. As with everything we do, it begins with listening. We’ll meet with our brokers to learn what policyholders are asking for, what our competitors are doing, and where the industry is headed. Because markets can change so quickly, we also must be flexible enough to evolve our products even as they’re being developed.

We have a reputation for moving fast, typically getting from conception to launch in about nine months. Just in the past three years, we’ve created nearly 30 new products and enhancements. It’s quantity with quality. We want to make sure our policyholders and producers have the options that work for them.

Being an independent, privately held company is what allows us to be uncommonly responsive, whether we’re developing innovative insurance products or simply returning a phone call in hours instead of days. Even back before phones were invented, it’s how we’ve conducted business.

In 1850, we were the first U.S. company to write a group policy. We were the first to issue a policy to a woman. And 40 years before it became law, we were the first in the industry to include an incontestability clause protecting policyholders. Being first isn’t our motivation. Our goal is to support every phase of life with financial protection. And since we’re not subject to the whims of investors, we can innovate without looking over our shoulder.

Our Products

 

Annuities

Our annuities provide customers flexibility, liquidity and competitive returns. There are no set up fees or administrative expenses. Choose from a range of individual, deferred, single premium Multi-Year Guarantee Annuities, Fixed-Index Annuities and Single Premium Immediate Annuities.


Medicare Supplement

We offer Medicare Supplement insurance plans that helps pay for deductibles, co-payments, co-insurance, and other out-of-pocket costs not covered by Original Medicare. Premium discounts are available for household residents who are insured under the same carrier. Additionally, customers have the freedom of seeing any Medicare contracted physician at any Medicare contracted facility of their choice.


Voluntary Benefits

Designed for employer groups, our voluntary products provide financial security, preferred underwriting and pricing for employees, and competitive compensation for our distribution partners. We help employers by offering a customized program that integrates with any employee benefits package.


Individual (Worksite) Life & Health

While our supplemental policies provide additional insurance to help pay out-of-pocket expenses, they also help with nonmedical costs like lost wages or missed mortgage payments. They provide a safety net and the benefits are paid directly to the policyholder. Products can be sold via the workplace or individually. Note: Disability is sold only via workplace.


Employer Stop-Loss

Manhattan Life's MGU Program Manager WesternSkies offers individualized stop-loss coverage to self-insured employers looking for protection from catastrophic medical and pharmacy claims. In addition to underwriting coverage, we focus on employer-customized solutions utilizing advanced risk assessment, cost containment and pharmacy benefit management tools, and provide producers and employers with responsive, timely claims service.
